4chan Hacker Leaks Twitch Business Data

An anonymous 4chan user leaked a 125 gigabyte (GB) torrent file containing sensitive data from the live streaming company Twitch’s internal Git repositories. Twitch is a video live streaming platform where content creators can stream games, esports competitions, or even just chat with their viewers. The hacker claimed, on the 4chan discussion board, that the Twitch community is a “toxic cesspool” and released this data to “foster more disruption and competition in the online video streaming space.” In this leak, the hacker posted the source code to the twitch.tv website, as well as the mobile, desktop, and console clients, propriety SDK’s and internal AWS services, IGDB and CurseForge (two applications owned by Twitch), an unreleased competitor to the gaming store Steam, internal security tools, and content creator payouts from 2019 forward. Currently, there has not been any sensitive information released about Twitch users, though the hacker has hinted to a part two of the leak which some have speculated may contain user credentials. Since the leak, there has been a substantial amount of discussion over the salaries of influencers and content creators. CTAPT analysts will continue monitoring this situation and will update if any other details are released.
